Essential Eco-Friendly Products You Absolutely Need

It is 2019, the year of eco-friendly and zero waste lifestyle. If you are not participating in this green wave, you are going against it.

Zero waste lifestyle is easy. It just needs a little effort.

I bet you have been tired to see plastic everywhere you go. From the delivery service of your favorite restaurant, your office and even your house: the essentials you use every day like your toothbrush, water bottle and straws you like to bite while drinking.

Yeah, it is no surprise how much we use plastic without thinking it will impact on our planet. According to Eco Watchwe have produced more plastic in the last ten years than during the whole of the last century. And half of the plastic we do use, we discard after only one use. This means that every day, millions of straws, plastic bags and utensils are ending up in our landfills and oceans, destroying wildlife and polluting mother nature.

It sucks but we can change it now, by replacing plastic for greener alternatives and trying to reuse plastic products we already have as best as we could. While we can’t change the world overnight, making these small, simple changes to our own habits will make a difference in the long-term. So here are my suggestions on how to live a zero waste lifestyle, starting from the essentials. Make your own zero waste kit! Remember, use what you already have at home, for free.

1. A bag to put everything in

Either a tote bag, a French cotton net bag, a cloth produce bag or your own DIY tank top bag works perfectly fine. Oh hey, you can surely use reusable shopping bags if you already have them.

2. A Reusable Water Bottle With Straw

I personally switch up between bottles and cups. Everyone knows we live for the aesthetic, so a stainless steel insulated tumbler sounds like a good idea. We can also use a stainless steel bottle to boost our lifestyle and stay hydrated at the same time!
About straws, there are so many options out there for my fellow aesthetic seekers. Usual stainless steel straws, stainless steel straws with silicone tips, organic bamboo straws or silicone straws. You name it, we have it.

3. Beeswax + Regular Cloth Wraps, Napkins For Your Fast Food Addiction

While cloth napkins are not technically replacing plastic waste, they are cutting down on paper waste. This is just one example of a product that can be a simple swap and is good for both people and the planet.

4. A Wooden/Bamboo/Stainless Steel Cutlery Set

Mine honestly is just a few pieces of silverware I had at home, wrapped in a napkin with a ribbon tied around it. While I will probably purchase a cute wooden cutlery set in the future, my point is that you have everything you need right now to get started.

5. A Lunch Box

If you bring your own lunchbox, you will not get plastic in packaging and delivery process. So why don't you bring your own to match with the rest of your zero waste essential items right?

As always don’t make pulling your zero waste kit together more complicated (or expensive) then it needs to be. Most likely you already have a lot of these items available to you at home, and it is just a matter of collecting them and keeping them together for easy access on-the-go

Join the green movement. Save our planet. Enjoy the zero waste lifestyle.
