5 Small General Things You Can Do To Be More Eco-Friendly

These little things might be surprisingly easy to do but most people usually ignore them.

We have a convenience problem rather than just a plastic problem.

Being more eco-friendly, pursuing a healthy lifestyle is pretty much what people are trying to do today. But why does it matter? Why do people suddenly switch sides? Mhmmm hello, where are all my fellow fast food lovers? Nah I am just kidding.

The answer is that people have finally come to the state of realizing how much damage our industry has done to our ecosystem and ruined our lovely hometown every day. But do not worry, I will show you how you can help reduce energy waste, be more eco-friendly and make Mama Earth love you! And save some extra coins, too.

1. Use Public Transport Or More Environmentally Friendly Alternatives Like Bikes, Scooters, Etc.

They are absolutely easy to use and no harm to the environment. If you must drive your own car, please make sure it is extremely important or urgent, otherwise, try not to rely on it.

Not the best experience but hey at least it saves the environment

2. Unsubscribe From Your Spam/Unwanted Advertising Emails

Okay, this one cannot be any easier. Step one, do not subscribe to any services that you know you do not need. Step two, we save a ton of energy and effort from deleting every single one of them. I think I know a guy messing around with scammers and got on Ted Talk to explain to people why he replied to those spam emails. His name is James Veitch and he is a comedian. But hey, that is a different story.

Did you know most emails are stored on the Cloud, which are essentially huge warehouses filled with servers running 24/7/365? These data centers are extremely polluting. They consume huge amounts of electricity and require robust Air Conditioner Systems to keep all these servers at the right temperature without overheating.

Not gonna mention that an average email has an average footprint of 4g of CO2, which accounts for the power data centers and computers spending sending, filtering and reading messages. A big attachment can have a carbon footprint of 50g of CO2.

Spam emails are super annoying

3. Bring Your Own Lunch And Water Bottle

As I mentioned in my very first blog Essential Eco-Friendly Products You Absolutely Need, these two are anyone's top essentials to be one step closer to the green goals. You have the looks, you have the items. Now it is time for you to step your green-lifestyle game up.

It doesn't really look as complicated as this I swear

4. You Might Get This A Lot But You NEED A Cute Little Plant On Your Desk

Have you ever got a rough day at school/work and you came home, stressing out and starting to get annoyed at every little thing like you were on your period? It is for the ladies you men can imagine. Haha funny enough everyone must have gone through once in their lives. Mama nature is in order to help! A small plant will not take much space on your desk or distract you from your work. Plus, green is soothing to the eyes. I always go outside to get some fresh air and look at plants, trees to relieve stress and pressure.

Better to look at now?

5. Get Your Papers Printed On Both Sides

There is a huge waste in resources to print on one side but people are still doing it without notice. One box of paper uses approximately 30% of a tree and requires approximately 11.25kg of greenhouse gas to produce. Furthermore, the average office employee consumes 2 cases of paper each year. One simple strategy to reduce paper usage is to adjust the default setting on your printers and copiers. Automatic duplexed (two-sided) printing can easily reduce your paper usage by up to 50%. On top of saving trees, this small adjustment can also reduce your annual paper cost by almost half.

Yes, it is important to pay attention to anything you do. Good luck on your green journey! I am always on your side and doing these good things with you to save our environment. Our small actions can make a big difference.
